bullet General Multi-Fandom Stuff...

Ephemeral This auto-archive automatically scoops all XF new stories posted to atxc for your fic-reading pleasure.

Deep Background Quite simply the best resource out there for XF fic writers, to the best of my knowledge. If the answer ain't here, you can probably find directions to it.

Haven For The FBI's Most Unwanted Now relocated to a snazzy new domain with an all-new look to match. Still perhaps the best place to start exploring the XF fandom from.

Buffy Fiction Archive All BtVS-fic, all the time. A wonderful one-stop shop for your Buffy-fic needs.

Our Boys The place to start, if you're just getting into Sorkinfic, and a place to keep coming back to, because Sab et al serve up the best of WW and Sports Night fic on a platter for you. Stuffed to the gills with good writing.

The West Wing Continuity Guide Nicely-designed resource for WW writers to check up on their canon details, links to lots of other useful places. Good place to start.

Versaphile LOTR Recs One of the best-designed, most comprehensive and regularly updated LOTR-fic archives I've found. Slash-heavy, but then so is the fandom. Oodles of fic, both movie-canon and book-canon, and you're more likely to find something good here than in the depths of the ffnet LOTR folder *shudder*.

bullet FavouriteAuthors

EPurSeMouve's Fanfic (XF, WW) I particularly recommend 'Sliding Downwards' if you're having an MSR-jaded spell, and the magnificent 'Soap and Eggs' stories, which reduced me to awed tears.

The Underground (XF, SN, WW, misc) Home of the formidable Punk Maneuverability. Check out 'The Jukebox At Arrow Fall Inn' and 'Escape Speed', two of my all-time favourite XF vignettes.

Jesemie's Evil Twin (XF) JET's work simply blows my mind. Everything she produces is pure gold. I can't recommend the 'Lines/Crosses/Circles' trilogy or her astounding 'Night Giving Off Flames' too strongly.

Marguerite (XF, WW) Meg's XF fic was somethin' else, and her WW fic is somethin' else again. She'll leave you in no doubt that she loves and knows these characters as well as they love and know each other. Let her break your heart with 'Vidui' for starters.

Penumbra (XF) Penumbra can do no wrong in my eyes. I thought 'Contact High' blew me away, until I read 'Parabiosis'...

JourneyToX (XF) Nobody, but nobody, is writing a better Skinner out there at the moment than JtoX. I adore 'The Summer Man', but the real gem here is her WIP, the remarkable 'Purple'.

Palimpsest - Rheanna's Fic (AtS) Rheanna writes the most wonderful Angel fic - I think I enjoy her fic more than I enjoy the show. Pitch-perfect characterisation and meaty, well-plotted stories.

Dasha K (XF) If you haven't already done so, read 'Increments' for the definitive post-Tithonus experience. Dasha's 'Blinded By White Light' is up there with 'Iolokus' and 'Arizona Highways' in the 'Fics The Whole Fandom Was Talking About' category.

Alanna (XF, BvTS) Quirky, sensitive, beautiful writing. Try 'Inside' or 'Cleopatra's Needle'.

Luperkal (XF) Beautiful, razor-edged angst. My favourite is 'Synecdoche', but 'Mixing Memory' is like a gorgeous knife to the heart too.

Yahtzee (BtVS, AtS) Yahtzee takes my breath away with every new story. I'm particularly partial to her Angel-fic - think the fandom Casablanca rewrite's been done to death? She'll prove you wrong. 'Phoenix Burning' defines, for me, what good Buffy-fic can be, in the hands of a great writer with a deft touch for characterisation and a gift for writing bold, surprising plots.

Anubis (XF) I may not be sure who I think s/he is, but I cannot recommend the remarkable, darkly brilliant 'Falling Down In Four Acts' enough.

Spark: Violet and Cinnamon (WW, plus assorted small change) The Spark gals show the rest of us how it ought to be done. No grounding in WW fic is complete until you've checked out their stuff. I'm very fond of 'Dance, Then, Wherever You May Be', if you want a jumping-off point.

Revely (XF) 'The Dreaming Sea' is one of the best XF novels I've read in a long time. Revely writes with a lightness of touch, a love for the characters and talent for spinning stories that creates magic.

Yes, Virginia (more fandoms than you can shake a stick at) If you missed the webring link on the front page, here it is again. The YVs are a collective of brilliant writers, beta-readers and friends, and I'm proud to be among their number. Yes, Virginia, I am.

bulletAnd the other stuff...

Television Without Pity A great place to catch up, through their excellent and snarky recaps, on various TV shows. Their motto says it all: 'Spare the snark, spoil the networks'. This is the website formely known as 'Mighty Big TV'.

Jesus Of The Week If you aren't a JOTW disciple yet, you're missing out. Now revamped for Y2K1!

The Onion Get your regular dose of fake news here...not as sharp as it was before they moved to NYC, maybe, but still makes me laugh out loud on a regular basis.

Modern Humorist: Like The Onion, but different *g*. Check out their 'LOTR trailer' if you have a speedy connection.

The Stinky Meat Project: I had to be taken to a dark, quiet place to lie down, this made me laugh so hard.

Ask Jesus Go on. Just ask him. You know you want to.

Bert Is Evil Sick. But funny. Very, very funny. Just don't say I didn't warn you.

MovieJuice! This guy writes the funniest 'reviews' I've read anywhere (check out his review of FTF), and makes original video spoofs of major Hollywood hits. A piss-taker after my own heart.
